Hi!
I’m Jess, the face behind RainDance Photography.
A little about RainDance Photography…
I started this photography business just after the birth of my son in 2020; when Covid-19 was everywhere and just about everything was closed down. This meant that the photographer I had booked to do his session had to cancel as we were in our first hard lockdown. This also meant that I could have been left without these precious memories being captured. Already having a good quality camera from my years of landscape and tourism photography, I made the decision to go out and purchase a few essential things to ensure that I would be able to capture those precious newborn details.
From here, I invested more time & money into this new venture with online workshops, tutorial memberships and in-person mentoring and seminars. After the first year of experience gaining through different types of sessions, we made the decision to convert our largely unused garage into a welcoming photography studio & office space.
Now, my clients love coming into our studio and relaxing into the comfortable lounge with a cuppa during their newborn session or post-session viewing consultation.

A little about me…
As a mumma to two, I definitely have given up asking the toddlers to cooperate for the entire session! Instead, all of my sessions take a ‘go with the flow’ approach, which definitely yields better results and more genuine images for you. In reality, you are getting family photos done because you want to freeze these gorgeous memories, exactly as they are. When your littlies are grown, you really won’t mind that their fave plush features in some of your photos as they often become a funny story. I really love, and find most clients do too, the funny face photos and these ones often become their faves since it captures their littlie’s personalities and gorgeousness.
As a fur mumma, pets are always a good thing at your in-home session and dogs will always be welcome at your outdoor session! Just make sure to discuss this with me so I can note it down in your file and remember to bring along a dedicated extra pair of hands for pup to rely on during your people shots and in the case they need to burn off some extra energy.
As a photographer, I still really love landscape photography. I also love capturing precious family memories in our beautiful landscapes. It really makes so much sense to head outdoors for your family photo sessions: the littlies have space to be kids, we have an amazing variety of landscapes to choose from, and our weather is pretty good all year round.
Now that you’ve read a little about me, tell me a little about you!
